Are you a girl aged 10 -14 years who enjoys a
challenge and likes to do something different?
|
|
If so, then our guide unit is just for YOU!
|
|
|
|
We are the 4th Risca (S.A.)
guide unit, meeting every Wednesday during term-time between 6:30pm and 8pm.
At present,
we have 14 guides with 2 guiders & we enjoy a wide range of activities.
|
|
|
| When the weather is good, the guides like to play rounders and
other games in the local
park, or to go walking the in the Sirhowy Valley. We take the guides
ice-skating, swimming and occasionally even to McDonald's! |
| |
| Indoors, we sing,
play games, complete various challenges and work on the "Go-For-It"
guiding programme. |
| |
| Camping is always a favourite with the guides
and last year we took six guides to the International Guide & Scout
camp at Screens Park, Chelmsford where they took part in activities
such as abseiling, raft-building, archery and camp-fire singing,
to name just a few! |
| |
| We also take part in community events such as the Rememberance
Day parade and the Civic
Christmas Carol service. |
| |
| We have five guides who are working
towards the Baden-Powell award - the highest award that can be
achieved within the Guide Association. We also have a guide who
is working towards the highest guiding award achievable in The
Salvation Army - that of the General's Award. |
| |
| If you are interested in any aspect of the guides, please come
to one of our meetings & give us a go. |
